Explore the numbers.
Understand the consequences.
A monthly payment tells only part of the story. See the borrowing cost, try different assumptions and consider whether your budget has room.
Educational calculations using hypothetical values. These are not loan offers, advertised prices or credit assessments. The figures are not Sambla's terms. No information is sent to a partner.
01 · LOANS AND COSTS
From loan amount to total cost
Your assumptions
Use figures from a specific offer when you have one. The initial values are only an illustration.
Check the figures. All fields must be valid, and the setup fee must be less than the loan amount.
Enter the nominal interest rate here. The calculator estimates the effective annual rate using the fees you enter. Do not enter an effective rate as a nominal rate.
What if the assumptions change?
The same loan amount and fees, with one change at a time. These are sensitivity calculations, not forecasts or a lender's assessment.
A lower monthly payment does not mean a lower cost. Compare the total before extending the repayment term.
The path to zero remaining debt
The curve shows the debt remaining after each payment. Interest and fees are additional to the amount you borrowed.

An annuity loan with a constant nominal rate, monthly interest and payments at the end of each month. The setup fee is paid from your own funds at the start, not added to the loan. APR is calculated from proceeds and payments, including fees. The final payment is adjusted for rounding. Tax, insurance, rate changes and extra repayments are excluded.
FROM NUMBERS TO UNDERSTANDING
Four things the results should tell you
Use these questions when comparing the calculation with an actual offer.
What am I paying to borrow?
The borrowing cost consists of interest and fees. The total repayable also includes repayment of the original loan amount.
Am I comparing equivalent terms?
Use the same loan amount and term when comparing effective interest rates. Also check fees and the total repayable in the offers.
What could change?
A calculation with a constant rate does not show the cost of a rate change. Try the interest-rate comparison and consider lower income or higher expenses too.
What is missing?
Insurance, tax and costs you have not entered are excluded. Check the payment schedule and all terms with the lender.
02 · COMPARE THE FULL COST
What changes with refinancing?
Compare up to three existing loans with one new agreement. Use outstanding balances and remaining months. Set the balance to zero for a loan you want to exclude.
- The current outstanding balance and remaining months for each loan.
- The nominal rate, monthly fees and any early repayment costs.
- A new offer for the same debt amount, with full pricing details and a clear repayment schedule.
Check the figures and include at least one existing loan.

The same annuity model as above, without additional borrowing. Previously paid fees and any settlement charges are excluded. Current monthly payments fall as individual loans end; totals account for the different terms. Check actual settlement figures and offers before deciding.
03 · ROOM IN YOUR BUDGET
What is left each month?
This budget is a calculation, not a borrowing limit. Figures are processed only in your browser and are not saved by the calculator.
Enter valid, non-negative monthly amounts.
Spread annual bills over twelve months. Avoid counting a debt payment under both housing and existing debt. This is not SIFO's reference budget or a bank's assessment model. SIFO / OsloMet ↗
